History
United Way of Trumbull County began in March 1923, originally as the Community Chest. It adopted the "red feather" as its campaign symbol early on. In the 1920s, United Way included community leaders who would get together at different locations. Community Chest was the administrative arm of the United Way and was more the fundraising part. The organization eventually merged with the Community Chest in 1984, becoming the United Way. It has evolved to focus on community impact through partnerships and collaborations, addressing areas like Learn Well, Earn Well, and Stay Well.
About Us
At United Way of Trumbull County, we believe community is built through compassion, connection, and a shared commitment to one another. Our work goes beyond giving—it’s about standing beside our neighbors, offering support when it’s needed most, and helping every individual realize their potential.
It’s delivering a meal to a senior who would otherwise go without. It’s taking the time to read with a child who just needs a little extra help. It’s about creating safe, nurturing spaces where families can grow, children can thrive, and everyone has access to essential care.
While financial support plays a vital role, our mission is rooted in so much more—friendship, dignity, and hope. We strive to open doors where others have closed, to offer opportunities where there once were none, and to ensure every child grows up knowing they are supported by a community that truly cares. At United Way of Trumbull County, we’re not just helping people—we’re building a stronger, healthier, more united community.
Our Community, Living United!
