John B. Estabrook "J.B" as he was known along with his brother Dave started the Warren Community Fund on March 23, 2023. The first Community Chest campaign was started in November of of 1923. In 1946 the Fund's name was changed to Warren Community Chest. In 1958 the Community Chest joined with the Red Cross to create the United Appeal. In 1970 the Warren and Niles Chests merged to form the Trumbull County Community Chest and the United Appeal began using the now familiar United Way name and logo. In 1984 the Trumbull County Community Chest and the United Way Committee formed the United Way of Trumbull County as a single entity.
